Lady Cardinals dominate Whitmire Fall to Pickens Friday

The Landrum girls basketball team had no problem with Whitmire on Thursday night, Dec. 16.

By halftime, the Lady Cardinals used stifling defense and a quick-strike offense to close the door completely with a 33-6 lead. Landrum scored 16 points in the first quarter and 17 in the second. The Lady Cardinal defense allowed four points in the first quarter and two in the second.

The pressure didnt end in the third quarter. Led by Jordan Jenkins, the Lady Cardinals continued with the domination outscoring Whitmire 17-2.

It feels good, Jenkins said. Were working really hard in practice and its paying off in our games.

Jenkins scored a double-double, finishing the game with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Macy Atkins and Amber Whiteside each scored nine points.

The Lady Cardinals are off to a blazing start in region competition after beating Blacksburg earlier in the week 69-38.

We are playing good, head coach Roy Parton said adding that it helps having leadership on the floor. We have three outstanding seniors out there.

Landrum 69 Blacksburg 38: On Tuesday night, Dec. 14, the Lady Cardinals won their first region matchup. The three seniors led the way.

Amber Whiteside led all scorers with 22 points. Jordan Jenkins added 13 points. Ashley Hartsell scored 12 points. Jenkins also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Landrum 35 Pickens 44: Landrum lost to 3A Pickens on Friday night, Dec. 17. The Cardinals were led by Jordan Jenkins. The senior had 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jenkins had 33 rebounds last week.
