Early voting ends tomorrow

Polk County residents wanting to vote early will have to do so by tomorrow afternoon.

Early voting ends tomorrow at 1 p.m. at three Polk County locations: the Polk County Board of Elections in the Womack Building in Columbus, the Mill Spring Fire Department and the Green Creek Community Center.

Voting at all three locations begins at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

These locations are also open today, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the board of elections office and from noon until 7 p.m. at the Mill Spring Fire Department and Green Creek Community Center.

More than 22 percent of Polk County’s registered voters have already voted as of Thursday around noon, with two more early voting days left. There were 14,871 registered voters in Polk County as of last week.

Of the 3,289 voters who have voted early so far, 1,248 have been Republicans. Democrats are 72 voters behind with 1,176 voters so far.

There have been 861 unaffiliated early voters so far and four Libertarians, according to the Polk County Board of Elections.

Polk residents may still register to vote while they participate in early voting today or tomorrow. No registration can be done on election day.

Election day is Tuesday. All seven Polk County polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
