Nersie Mae Mildred McClain White, 83, of 970 East Howard St., Tryon died on Sunday, October 17, 2010.

Born in Inman, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Hattie McClain. She was a member of Garrison Chapel Baptist Church of Tryon. She was the widow of Arthur White, who died in 1999.

She is survived by three stepsons, Arthur Lee White Sr. of Union Mills, N.C.; William Fredrick White of Florida; and Glenn White of Florida. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Mary Louise of Spartanburg, S.C.; five step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and four nieces, Geneva Grant of Bridgeport, Ct.; Mary Louise Webster of Bridgeport, Ct.; Irene Best of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Vernice Harris of Philadelphia, Pa. One great niece, Elaine Murray of Forest City, N.C., and two great nephews, Calvin Jones of Asheville, N.C.; Clarence Morrison of Spartanburg, S.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. &bsp;

She was preceded in death by one niece, Ethel Morrison of Tryon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 in Garrison Chapel Baptist Church, Tryon, with Pastor Keith Knox officiating.

Burial will be in Good Shepard Cemetery Tryon following the service.Mrs. White will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
