Hungry to Help food drive

Polk County 4-H is sponsoring a food drive this week to assist with the food needs of the community. Organizers ask the community to help fill the shelves at Thermal Belt Outreach by donating to the 4-H Hungry To Help project. During the annual 4-H Fall barbeque week a small red Nissan pick-up truck will be parked in downtown Columbus. Canned food donations can be made by dropping items off inside the truck.
We hope to fill our truck to the benefit of Thermal Belt Outreach and the many families in need, said Helen Clark, Polk County 4-H program assistant. Each day during the week of October 18 we will pick up the donated food and store it until the food can be dropped out at Outreach Ministry. We will move our truck to the 4-H Center on Friday, October 22 in time for our BBQ supper.
The small red truck will have a banner that reads, Fill The Truck to Feed the Hungry. All food donated will be used locally. The Hungry To Help project is being conducted by 4-H Clubs across North Carolina.
