Stanley E. Cantrell

Stanley E. Cantrell, 62, a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, passed away on October 8, 2010, at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital.

Born April 3, 1948, he was the youngest son of Mae Thorne Cantrell and the late Harvey Cantrell. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Anna Mae Burns Cantrell, and a sister, Betty Mae Cantrell.

He worked as a mechanic with Southern Concrete Materials in Hendersonville for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being outdoors.

He is survived by five children, Stanley E. Cantrell Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Etowah, N.C., Angela Sissy Cantrell Justus and her husband, Rodney, of Polk County, Teresa Cantrell Roberts and her husband, Paul, of Forest City, N.C., Tammy Cantrell Howard and her husband, Leon, of Prosperity, S.C., and Christina Cantrell Oliver of Hendersonville, N.C.; one brother, Floyd Shorty Cantrell of Hendersonville; two sisters, Barbara Susie McMurray and her husband, Glover, of Hendersonville, Brenda Rhodes and her husband, Carl, of Hendersonville; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews and his beloved pet, Bandit.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at the Thos. Shepherds Church Street Chapel. Burial followed at Saluda City Cemetery.
