Columbus Farm Festival October 2

Published 3:08 pm Wednesday, September 15, 2010

The Second Annual Columbus Farm Festival is planned for Saturday, October 2. Organizers say this years event will be much like the festival in 2009. Downtown Columbus will be ready to celebrate the countys agricultural heritage, past, present and future.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with activities occurring during that time. The OverMountain Men, the Civil War reenactors, horse and buggy rides, and apple recipe contest are all returning to the event. As always, the Polk County Tailgate Market will be front and center for the festival with extended hours for area consumers.

Festival organizers are still accepting vendors and local talent for the mid-day entertainment. We want to invite crafters, food vendors and non-profit organizations to be a part of the festival, said Lynn Sprague, agriculture economic director for Polk County. The main street will be blocked and we plan to have it filled with farm equipment and vendors from throughout Polk County.
