TWGA Wing Ding ends all tied up at top after 9 holes

The Tryon Womens Golf Association Captains Choice Wing Ding Tuesday ended in a tie.

The team of Terry Atwood, June Current, Ann Gargiulo and Betty Murray tied with the foursome of Harlene Harm, Elaine Riley, Becky Walker and Peggy Woodward after both teams shot matching 38s.

The TWGA will be involved in a Beat the Pro Tournament Sept. 7 and a Stars and Starlets tournament Sept. 14 at the Tryon Country Club.

Meadowbrook Seniors

Tal Hollomans net 63 won the first flight of the Meandowbrook Seniors event Monday. Holloman finished four strokes ahead of Bob Harley (67). Melvin Alexander and Buddy Mullins tied for third with a net 70.

In the second flight, Don Birch won with a net 61, followed by Rich Alewine (64) and Larry Ware (65).

In the third flight, Paul Cox shot a net 63 for the win, and Bruce Cotney and Jerry McCarter tied for second with 65s.

TMGA

In the TMGAs low-net Mixed Bag event on Aug. 23, the team of Gordy Cwik, Dick Belthoff, Don Iaffaldano and Chas McKeller took first place in the nine-hole division with a net 54.

Second place went to Rody Dayvault, Dick Cover, Ernie Giannini and Ed Duszak (58) and third to Jim Diggs, Bob Martlock, Wil Potter and Phil Goree (59).

In the 18-hole division, the foursome of Bill Kelly, Ted Hiley, Joe Eskridge, Russ Walker won with a 119.
