Tryon House held a customer lottery drawing for gift certificates during the first week of its semi-annual clearance sale. Tryon residents Barbara Salmon and Alicia Ellis each won a gift certificate for merchandise in the store. Seven-year-old Gus Maass, son of Tryon residents Harold Maass and Margaret Curtis, drew the winning tickets.

Store owner Mary Wells Prioleau said the drawing was one way Tryon House could thank its customers for their patronage during the past year. We think our customers need to know how much we appreciate their business, especially in these uncertain economic times, she commented.

Local attorney Lee Stockdale and his son Noah, a rising junior at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, played music in the Trade Street windows of the store during the sale weekend.

Founded in 1983, Tryon House has been a long time fixture on Trade Street in downtown Tryon. In addition to clothing for men and women, jewelry and accessories, Tryon House sells many exclusive products featuring Morris, the town horse. Tryon House is open daily, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
