Tryon Little Theater director Richard Sharkey recently announced his cast for TLTs first musical of the 62nd season. MonkY Business is a heavenly musical comedy by Todd Mueller and Hank Boland with music and lyrics by Gregg Opelka. The cast of five male singers consists of Charlie Hunnicutt (Abbott Costello), Mark Monaghan (Brother Brooks), Lavin Cuddihee (Brother Clarence), Jack Carruth (Brother Lee Love) and Cory Graves (Brother Forte).

MonkY Business is the story of five monks desperate to keep their St. Bernard monastery from the hands of a land developer with plans to convert it to Bernies Casino Royale. With songs such as Celibacy, The Mohair Rag, Satans Place and My Brothers Keeper, the Men in Brown rent a religious radio station (WGOD – the Word of God…in Stereo!) to conduct a radiothon fundraiser.

MonkY business opens November 11 for eight performances at the Tryon Little Theater Workshop, located at 516 S. Trade St. in Tryon. Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday matinee.
