Chamber’s Otho Gibbs Tourney set

LOCAL GOLF ROUNDUPTryon Federal Bank is the presenting sponsor for the 12th-annual Otho Gibbs Foothills Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament scheduled for Sept. 16, 2010 at Meadowbrook Golf Club.
The tournament will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. Entry fees include a steak cookout after play is concluded. Chamber member teams can vie for the Chamber Trophy Cup, which was won by Macon Bank last year. Proceeds from the event support the Chamber Foundation.

TWGA
Nancy Mahler and Martha Love combined for a net 62 to win the 18-hole division of the Tryon Womens Golf Association annual member-guest tournament Tuesday.
Peggy Henson and Nancy Hyatt were the low-gross winners with a 92.
Sue Campbell and Dee OBrien were the 9-hole division winners with a net 29, edging the second-place team of Lynn Chalmers and Heidi Shull by one stroke. Bonnie Sakos and Ann Gargiulo finished third.
TMGA
Jack Saunders, Bill Basye, Joe Eskridge and Chuck Huneycutt teamed up to win the Tryon Mens Golf Association 18-hole better ball tournament Monday. The foursome shot a 113 in the better two net balls of four format.
In the 9-hole division, Jim Diggs, Phil Goree, Walt Flaschar and Dennis Sakos took first with a net 55, followed by Ken Johnston, Dick Belthoff, Charles McKeller and Dick Johnson (56) in second and the team of Earl Virts, Richard Barraud, Ernie Giannini and Bud Hoffman (59).

Clyde Kaericher and Roger Traxler teamed up to win the Red Fox Mens Golf event Monday. Kaericher and Traxler fired a net 60 to win the best net-ball tournament. Traxler was also the blind-draw partner of Bill Wuehrmann, and they posted a net 63 for a second-place finish.
Meadowbrook Seniors
Doug Parton finished with 14 points to win the Meadowbrook Seniors tournament Monday.
Parton was followed by Roger Bailey (12 points) and Bob Harley (11 points).
