Thanks in part to their work, and that of eight other craft breweries in the area, Asheville was recently named Beer City in a USA Today poll. Asheville tied Portland, Ore. in last years poll, but won this year after a wave of twittering, texting and Facebook posting stirred up the voters in Western N.C. There are nine craft breweries in Asheville, compared to 28 in Portland. Next up is the Beer City Festival, June 5 on Roger McGuire Green at the new Pack Square Park downtown Asheville.
