Rocking chair raffle on June 23 to benefit Thermal Belt Outreach

A hand-painted rocking chair has been donated to Thermal Belt Outreach for a raffle to be held at 12 p.m. on June 23. The chair is a one-of-a-kind chair, decorated in a western horse theme by local artist Peggie Armstrong. It won first place in Florida at the Lee County Fair and was featured in the Country Woman magazine. This is the second chair that she has spent many hours painting and then donated to Outreach as a fundraiser.

The chair is currently on display at the Columbus Branch of Tryon Federal Bank. In a few days, it will move over to Tryon Federal in Tryon and then to Carolina First Bank in Columbus before returning to Outreach prior to the drawing on June 23.

Tickets are available at all three banks. This event will help Outreach to continue to serve those in need in Polk County with food, rent, utilities and other assistance in crisis situations.

If you would like to purchase tickets to participate in the drawing, they are also available at Thermal Belt Outreach, located at 134 White Drive in Columbus.

If you are not familiar with the Outreach, this would afford you an opportunity to see their facility, and to learn more about the assistance they are providing to our communitys less fortunate. You may also call them at 828-894-2988 for information about buying tickets. The winner need not be present.
