Industrial Federal is the sixth mutual bank to come together in this partnership; other banks include Shelby Savings Bank, Tryon Federal Bank, Home Savings Bank of Rockingham County, Rutherford County Bank, and HomeTrust Bank of Asheville.
With the addition of Industrial Federal Savings Bank, located in Davidson County, home to High Point and Lexington, the HomeTrust Banking Partnership will have 19 offices: Industrial Federal Savings Bank in Davidson County (3); HomeTrust Bank in Haywood County (2), Buncombe County (5), and Henderson County (1), Home Savings Bank in Rockingham County (3), Shelby Savings Bank in Cleveland County (2), Tryon Federal Bank in Polk County (2), and Rutherford County Bank (1).
The Partnerships combined assets will exceed $1.6 billion, making it the 13th largest banking organization headquartered in North Carolina.

Elaine’s Attic Grand
A beginning sewing and quilting course taught on Sunday afternoons will begin in June.
Want to make your own tote bags or wearable art? You can learn the techniques developed by Elaine’s Attic teachers through classes designed to be fun and entertaining.
There will also be an advanced course for the paper pieced technique. Betty Fortner from the Landrum Quilt guild will be teaching the course. Details for all classes are available in the shop. Future advanced courses are already being considered.
Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tues-Sat. Sunday and Monday are reserved for classes.opening is May 20-21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. There will be door prizes given away every hour and visitors can register for the Grand Prize of a quilt top kit. Grand Prize drawing will be on May 22.

The United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) has presented the Gold Award for Best Practices in distance Leaning Programming toHerrmann International.
Tryon resident Ann Herrmann-Nehdi is cheif executive of Herrmann International, which is headquartered in Lake Lure.
The award was presented at USDLAs 2010 National Conference in St. Louis, Mo. on May 5.
Herrmann Internationals “Thinking Accelerator” blends a self-directed online simulation with action learning and application exercises to help people uncover their thinking preferences and apply Whole Brain Thinking to improve leadership, teamwork, communication, problem solving and creativity.
Herrmann International original developed the program with IBM for its global leadership development program, which was previously awarded the 2009 Silver Learning in Practice Award for Excellence in Content from Chief Learning Officer Magazine.
“Because the participants Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) assessment profile is embedded into the program, each person receives a personalized distance learning experience,” Herrmann-Nehdi said. “Our clients appreciate the quality and effectiveness of delivery because it allows them to scale quickly, and it frees up valuable classroom time to focus on business-focused application.”
