Helen Cecelia Wyatt Barnett Fields of Columbus died peacefully in the arms of her family on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Tryon Estates. Formerly of Pawleys Island, S.C., and of North Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Fields was born December 1, 1920 in Billings, Okla. A daughter of Cecelia and Jim Wyatt, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Barnett and Branch Fields.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Anne and George Bailey (Little Rock, Ark.); her children and their spouses: Kathy and Bob Thompson (Saluda), Brad and Linda Barnett (Concord, N.C.), Annie Belle Fields Weymark (Belleville, Ont.), Branch and Jaylene Fields (Williamsburg, Va.), Candy Fields and Scott Wright (Little Rock, Ark.), and Pat and Merlie Fields (Little Rock, Ark.); 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A lifelong community volunteer, Mrs. Fields gave generously of herself. She was a gracious hostess and especially loved preparing food in abundance for others to enjoy. Mrs. Fields is admired for her loving devotion to family and friends expressed so often through her heartfelt, handwritten notes.
Memorial services will be held in the auditorium of Tryon Estates at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10 , 2010 and at 3 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 in the Saluda Presbyterian Church, Saluda.
