The Rotary Club of Tryon was involved in Rotary District 7670s effort in packing 1 million meals for Haiti through Stop Hunger Now. District 7670 consists of Rotary clubs in western North Carolina.

There were seven different packing events that occurred through out western North Carolina after over $250,000 had been raised to purchase the meals which cost twenty-five cents each. Rotary Club of Tryon participated in the packing event that was held at the Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville.

Over 450 people from the area gathered in three different shifts during the day to pack dehydrated food into individual packs that would feed six. These meals were then packed into cases and into a container that was shipped to a warehouse in Haiti. A Rotary club in Haiti will remove the cases from the warehouse and feed school children as they learn to read each day in school.
