G.W. Powell, 91, of 400 Beagle Run Road died May 5, 2010.&bsp; He was son of the late Walt and China Powell and widower of Juanita Conner Powell. He was retired.

He is survived by a son, James Powell of Landrum; two brothers, Lester Powell and Otis Powell, both of Landrum; a sister, Margaret Tucci of La Grange, Ga.; a grandson, David Powell; two great granddaughters, Katie and Kaine Powell; and a special friend, Jackie Fowler.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, May 7, 2010 at Petty Funeral Home.&bsp; Funeral services will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
