Local salon seeks hair clippings to help oil spill

Since the beginning of this year, Artistry Above salon in Columbus has been collecting all hair clippings (that are too short to donate to Locks of Love) to ship to Matter of Trust.org (a non-profit organization since 2000), for the primary purpose of creating hair booms which are used to collect oil from oil spills.

Mia Kuettel, owner of Artistry Above is requesting all local barbers, salons and pet groomers to collect and save all hair, horse hair or fur clippings for her to ship out to Cape Coral, Fl., on Monday, May 17. They also need used, clean nylon stockings, even if they have runs.

Were being told that this effort will be more effective than the alternative oil spill methods assigned by BP. There is a massive, volunteer out-pouring of man-power and over 200,000 pounds of hair/fur donations since this current Gulf Coast oil spill. Bring hair/fur donations and nylon stockings to Artistry Above located at 915 W. Mills Street (Hwy 108) in Columbus.
