Last call for Texas Hold Em players

There is still time to participate in Tryon Downtown Development Associations First Annual Texas Hold Em Tournament. The event is set for May 8, at 1 p.m., at the Kyoto pub on the lower level of Shops of Tryon. The bragging rights poker tournament is a new fundraiser to benefit downtown projects and operations.

Tournament poker chips, which have no cash value, will be used in the games as a means of keeping score. To enter the tournament, players will make a $100 tax deductible donation to TDDA, a 501(c)(3) organization. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. The tournament is open to women and men, age 21 and over, who are familiar with the game of poker.

To sign up for the tournament and receive more information, email viclar@windstream.net. You can also contact Larry Siler at 828-894-5221. Donations will be collected at the tournament.
