LHS track teams take region II-A title

The Landrum mens and womens track teams ran away with victories Tuesday in the Region II-A championship meet at Landrum. The womens team won by a margin of 224-161, and the mens team won by 224-85. Christ Church came in second both times. It was the 11th straight region title for the Landrum womens team, and 7th straight for the mens team.
Jordan Jenkins set a new school record while capturing first place in the 800M run. She finished in 2:27. For the boys, Peyton McCarter won the 100M at 11:36, and Kenneth Human won the 800M. Cole McDowell finished first in the triple jump at 40 feet 9.5 inches.
The Landrum womens relay teams won the 4×400 and 4×800, while the Landrum mens relay teams swept the 4×100, 4×400 and 4×800.
Both teams will now prepare for Upper State on May 8.
