Nick Montgomery spread four hits over five innings and was 2-for-3 with two RBIs at the plate to lead Polk Couty to a 4-2 win over Landrum on Thursday.
Polks Tyler Philpott was 3-for-4 with two doubles. Danny Fraga picked up the save with two innings of relief.
Fragas impact was quickly felt as he immediately picked a runner off first base slowing a potential Landrum rally.
The defense was once again solid for Polk with Fraga, while at shortstop, and outfielders Andrea Overholt and Joel Booker making clutch plays in the field.
This gave Polk their second win of the season over rival Landrum.
