To the Editor:

So much is being said about the health reform bill that was recently signed into law. The gist of it being that we are passing debt down to our children and grandchildren, but I say if there was no health reform and the millions of families who, through no fault of their own, have lost their jobs, homes, or both could no longer afford health insurance premiums that keep skyrocketing (because insurance companies could afford to play roulette with their lives) there would be blood on the hands of all who voted against reform if diseases struck and killed the very children they were trying to protect from debt.

Insurance companies will now be held accountable, unable to hike premiums or deny coverage for a pre-existing condition.

As for debt, the new law actually improves our countrys fiscal situation by cutting the national debt by one trillion dollars over the next 20 years.

And even were this not the case, isnt it better for our nations children to have debt than to not be here at all because of lack of medical care or ability to pay for it? Is it fair that those who have should live and be healthy and those who have not should not?
