April Fools Fest returns to Tryon

Tryons Trade Street will be filled with a phantasmagoric array of foolish folly this Saturday at Tryons 4th annual April Fools Festival, beginning at 11 a.m.
Join with friends, family and fans of Tryon, under the magisterial watch of Morris, the Tryon Horse, to herald spring’s return.
Costumes, food, beverages, and music will be the fare of the day, not to mention your opportunity to shine in the April Fools Parade at 12:34pm or the fiercely competitive Outhouse Race, immediately following the parade.
A new feature in this years festival will be an Easter bonnet/hat competition, sponsored by Goodyear Florist and awarding a $50 spring bouquet gift certificate. Judging will occur at noon in the Nina Simone Plaza (54 South Trade Street).
Food items on the Depot Plaza will include BBQ by Harry Denton and hotdogs by the Tryon Downtown Development Association (TDDA).
Malt beverages, provided by Skyland Distributing, will include St. Pauli Girl, Peters Creek and Seven Sisters. Wristbands are required.Live music begins at 1 p.m. on the Depot Plaza. Scheduled to appear are the local Celtic group The Slow Jammers, the ever-popular Jim Peterman Band, with Susie Kocher, and Rich Nelsons group Wishgrove (www.wishgrove.com). And of course, street musicians are always welcome to stroll and busk.
Kick-off your weekend in lovely, downtown Tryon! Don your finest, foolish attire and join in a bit of jovial tomfoolery. Proceeds benefit TDDAs StreetScape.
