Polk County High School football standout Seth McCool officially signed with Brevard College to continue his football career this past Thursday.
Family and coaches were on hand to witness the signing. McCool primarily played defensive end and tight end for the highly successful Wolverine program over the last four years. Seth alluded to this being the realization of a childhood dream.
“Ive always played football up through peewee etc. and always I watched college football players on TV,” he said. “This is just a great opportunity for me as a player.” McCool credited a variety of coaches and his teammates in making this day possible.
Polk head coach Bruce Ollis stated, “We’re certainly excited about the fact he is going have a chance to be playing on the next level. Seth finished up his career as a very fine football player for us. He was a team captain, All-Conference and as for as stats go, his final two years were very impressive. He had 140 tackles, 12 sacks, 32 tackles for loss, 4 pass reflections and 2 fumble recoveries.”
Pat and Kim McCool were obviously proud of their sons accomplishments but also noted Brevards academic program.
Kim said she was “just proud of what Seth has accomplished.” But she was equally impressed that Brevard seemed to “do things the right way” in terms of supporting their athletes.
Pat commented on Brevard’s high graduation rates with “all 22 seniors scheduled to graduate this year.”
Both said they like Brevards schedule being somewhat “local” in terms of seeing their son play. “Their schedule has most games being within four hours of Brevard so that will make it easier.”
