The Polk Middle baseball team has started out conference play on fire. They are 2-1 and averaging 13 runs a game.
Their win against Waynesville 16-4 started the season out right, but they took it on the chin in their second game against Macon 8-15. It didnt take them long to rebound with a 16-0 win against Bethel Middle on Thursday.
On the mound the Wolverines have been led by Morgan Groves and Will Ballard. Groves threw a 2 hit shut out against Bethel.
The bats have a lot of contributors, but are led by Jeremy Fancher with a .588 BA and close behind are Wes Brady, Groves and Ballard all batting over .400.
Other contributors in the field and offensively are Konner Scruggs (SS), Bryce Martin (CF), Chase McMurray (1B), Damian Cantrel (LF), and Jordan Smith (2B).
Coach Ruth is excited about the season and says with the mixture of returning players and new players it sure has been a fun start.
He is also excited about the number of quality players that are coming out for baseball and says it will lead to continued success at the High School in the future.
