Local police departments are warning area residents not to send money to sweepstakes claiming someone is a winner. Police chiefs Jeff Arrowood with Tryon and Butch Kennedy with Columbus say people are scamming the elderly saying theyve won a prize and to send money. The scammers are also offering residents rides to pay the money. The chiefs say not to speak to these people and definitely dont send money. Money is never required for winning a prize.
