Linda F. Holstein

Linda Fouracre Holstein, 63, of Saluda passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday, March 22, 2010 at the Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.

She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Dr. Maurice H. and Mary McClure Fouracre. Linda graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C., in 1965 and was married the same year.

In 1970 she, along with her husband and two daughters, moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.. She attended nursing school and after earning her L.P.N. worked for several years at Imperial Point Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale on the surgical recovery floor. Linda served on the advisory committee of Atlantic Vocational Technical Center in Coconut Creek, Fla., for several years and represented the interests of nursing.

She worked for many years as a nurse assistant to Dr. Reynauld Pouliot, OB/GYN, P.A., in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Fla. She, along with Dr. Pouliot, was instrumental in opening the Rio Vista OB/GYN, P.A. at Broward General Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she worked as its administrator until moving to Saluda, in 1995. After a short time off, Linda took a position as a nurse with Autumn Care Nursing Home in Saluda. Serious health issues forced her retirement in 2006 but she kept her nursing license in force until very recently. Linda is a long time member of Saluda United Methodist Church.

Linda is survived by her husband of over 45 years, McKinley; two daughters, Nicole Bieber (husband Jeffrey), Tucson, Ariz.; Mary Farrell (husband Francis), Saluda; a brother, John Fouracre (wife Karen), Geneva, N.Y.; a sister, Mary Ellen Finster, Crystal River, Fla.; a grandson, Airman 1st Class James M. Farrell, USAF; a grandson, Justin L. Bieber, Jacksonville, Fla.; a granddaughter, Grace-Ann Farrell, Saluda and many nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. in McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Rev. Rob Parsons and Rev. Tony Sayer officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.
