The recent recession isnt slowing down at least one local production operation.
Despite the current economic environment, Polk Vocational Services has achieved a 26 percent compounded annual production revenue growth rate over five years.
In response to this growth, PVS is adding a second shift to its medical production operation. The not-for-profit organization plans to reach full second shift employment of 20-22 positions by 2012, and will begin advertising for the first six positions this week.
Polk Vocational Services (PVS) mission is to provide vocational, rehabilitation and life skills training for people with disabilities.
To supplement government funding for PVSs training programs, the organization has a production operation that employs people with disabilities and also people without a disability.
The primary growth engine is PVSs custom disposable medical products business.

“In addition, we need to thank the Marketing Association of Rehabilitation Centers, Inc (MARC) in Hendersonville, NC and Haywood Vocational Opportunities, Inc (HVO) in Waynesville, NC. HVO has been the lead company in a nine company consortium who joined together to grow their custom disposable medical products businesses here in Western North Carolina. Together this consortium has created or retained 373 jobs in Western North Carolina.”
PVS and HVO are nationally accredited, not-for-profit organizations whose missions are to provide vocational, rehabilitation and life skills training to people with barriers to employment while providing quality products and services to our customers on time and error free.
MARC, Inc. is an association of 14 member companies in Western North Carolina providing employment opportunities to those with disabilities in 23 counties.
