Walker not planning run for S.C. House

Bob Walker says he will not try this year to win back the seat he occupied in the S.C. House for 16 years.
“I am not running,” says Walker. “My time has come and gone. I have no regrets.”
Walker served in the House from 1993 to 2008 and was chairman of the Education and Public Works Committee before he left office. He was named Legislator of the Year in 1997.
Walker lost in the 2008 Republican Primary by 19 votes to Joey Millwood, who went on to win in the general election.
Millwood, now in the second year of his first term will be challenged by at least two other Republicans, former Landrum Mayor Doug Brannon and Boiling Spring area businessman John Moore (see story page ?).
Walker has attended the campaign announcements of both Brannon and Moore. He says he is not endorsing either challenger, but he does believe the residents of S.C. House District 38 need a change in leadership.
Although he no longer serves as a state legislator, Walker says he regularly talks to voters and still tries to help address their needs when he can.
Walker recently returned to a public role with his appointment to the S.C. Aeronautics Commission. Look for an article about his role on the commission in FridaysBulletin.
