Mary Douglas Stephenson, 87, of Columbus, NC died Sunday, February 28, 2010 in St. Lukes Hospital in Columbus, NC.
Born in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of Stratford Bradish and Ellen Riggs Douglas. She was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WW II in the WAVES. Mrs. Stephenson was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross. She loved the outdoors and had a great sense of adventure.
Surviving is her husband, John A. Stephenson; one daughter, Ellen Thomas of Tryon, NC; one granddaughter Katy Walters of Lakeland, FL ; one great- granddaughter, Emma Walters. Also surviving are four step-children, Sarah Jusko of Snohomish, WA, Lucy Stephenson of Tryon, NC, Alec Stephenson of Ferron, UT and Suzanne Stephenson of Salt Lake City, UT and 9 step-grandchildren and 8 step great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
