Etta Lea Stokes, 90, of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away February 19, 2010 at the Salemtowne health care center. The daughter of Claude Johnson Lea and Alice Belle Violette Lea, she was born June 27, 1919 in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
She is survived by her husband, Henry B. Stokes of Winston-Salem and her son, Stewart L. Stokes and wife Tracy A. Hildebrand and their daughter Emily Laurel of Asheville, N.C.; her daughter, Julia Stokes Warren and husband Jack S. Warren of Greenville, N.C., and their sons, Jack Shelton Warren III and Henry Stokes Warren; and her daughter, Barbara B. Stokes of Winston-Salem.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, at the First Baptist Church of Winston-Salem, with Dr. David Hughes officiating. The family will receive guests at the church following the service. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. at Salem Cemetery.
