Barbara Elizabeth Smith Shytle, 69, formerly of Green Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C.
Born in Spartanburg, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John and Julia Foster Smith. She was a graduate of Western Carolina University and received her bachelor of science in elementary education and taught in the Polk County and Henderson County school systems. Barbara was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church.
Surviving are: Two daughters, Beth Siegfried (Danny) of Green Creek and Lori Price (Duane) of Green Creek; a sister, Janice Nicholson (Hugh) of Cleveland, Tenn. She was married to Larry Dean Shytle Sr. of Green Creek. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sarah Shytle, Colby Lynch, Haley Price, Landon Price, Jordan Price, Addie Lynch and Jackson Price, a nephew, Adam Harris and brother-in-law Robert Harris. Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean Shytle Jr., who died in 1997 and a sister, Nancy Harris, who died in 2002.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Green Creek First Baptist Church, Columbus, with Rev. Duane Price officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in Green Creek First Baptist Church.

The family will be at the home of a daughter, Beth Siegfried, 6541 South N.C. Hwy. 9, Columbus, N.C. 28722.
