John Gregory Russell, 43, of L. M. Morgan Rd., Saluda won his battle with cancer and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010 at his home
Born in Henderson County, N.C., he was the son of William Horace and Sheila Emory Russell of Saluda. He was a 20-year employee of Henderson County Sheriffs Dept. and was currently the Sgt. of Charlie Squad. He was also the owner and operator of Issac Creek Builders, security coordinator for Lake Summit Homeowners Association, a lifetime member of Saluda Fire & Rescue, and a volunteer with Carpenters Hand Ministry. Mr. Russell was a trustee and a member of Mountain Page Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Janice Pace Russell, one daughter, Ashley Crissone (Chris), of Sunny View, two sons, Tyler Russell and Caleb Russell of the home. Three grandchildren, Addison, Caitlyn, and Laney Crissone. Three brothers, Jeff, Darryl, and David Russell, all of Saluda. Also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services weree held Monday in Mud Creek Baptist Church, 403 Rutledge Drive, Hendersonville, N.C., with Rev. Tim Metcalf and Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating.
Burial was in Mtn. Page Baptist Church Cemetery, Saluda.
