Elizabeth K. “Betty” Michener, 89, of Tryon died Thursday, February 4, 2010 in the Smith Phayer Hospice House, Landrum, S.C.
She was born in Washington, D.C. in 1920, the daughter of Norman and Mildred Krase. She moved to Tryon in 1982 and was a member of Tryon Presbyterian Church and Tryon Country Club and was a volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital.
Surviving are: three daughters, Jemmie Riddell and her husband Matt of Hendersonville, N.C.; Anne Bell and her husband Palmer of Jacksonville, Fla., and Meg Gilbert and her husband Richard of Alexandria, Va., a son, Ed Michener of Sandy Spring, Md. ,and a sister, Barbara Rumpf and her husband Allan of Seattle, Wa..Also surviving are five grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 in the Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon with Dr. Dent Davis officiating.
