Tryon native, Nelson Jackson, dies Monday at Murrell’s Inlet hospital

Nelson Jackson, a Tryon native, brother of Jim Jackson of Tryon, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
Many on the S.C. Grand Strand are mourning the death of the well-known developer.
Nelson and his wife, Mary Emily built Ocean Lakes Family Campground in 1970, before opening it in 1971.
Ocean Lakes is now the largest campground on the east coast and one of the largest in the U.S.
Jackson was 89. The arrangements celebrating the life of Jackson are on today and tomorrow and are open to the public.
