The Tryon Water Plant recorded 3.6 inches of rain just on Sunday that was added to 0.01 inches on Friday and 0.34 inches on Saturday.
The area also saw roadways covered in water and gravel and emergency crews responded to a few trees down on Sunday. No roads were impassible due to flooding on Sunday, Halford said, but some roads, such as River Road, Hooker Road and Hunting Country Road were completely covered in water.
The mudslides covered and closed a couple of roads and lanes in the county. The mudslide on Green River Cove Road covered both lanes of traffic and the Hogback Mountain Road mudslide also closed traffic. The Green River Cove Road mudslide covered one lane of traffic.
The N.C. Department of Transportation cleaned up the roadway mudslides on Holberts Cove, Green River Cove and Red Fox. The Town of Tryon cleared the mudslide on Hogback Mountain Road by early yesterday morning.
