The Polk County Middle School girls basketball team defeated Brevard on Jan. 13 to improve to 9-0. Brittany Jones took a long inbounds pass and made the winning basket in the final seconds of the game. Jones finished with 11 points, Lyric Flood had 5 points, Kara Overholt and Shea Wheeler each had 4 points. The girls team also includes: Anisha Canady, Ashley Kropp, Caroly Couch, Rebecca Mitchell, Sarah Phipps, Cassidy Campbell, Jamie Greene, Brianna Dill, Samantha Metcalf, Hannah McDowell.
