Clarence E. Richards

Clarence E. Richards, 83, of McDonald Street, Tryon, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Margaret Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville.

Born in Landrum, he was the son of the late Judson Tate and Mamie Lee Bradley Richards. He was the widow of Elma Katherine Richards who died in 2007. Mr. Richards was a retired textile employee and was a member of the Tryon Church of God.

Surviving are: two daughters, Sandra Kay Gee (Barry) of Green Creek; Carolyn Diane Richards of Forest City, N.C.; two sons, Wayne Richards of Tryon and Phillip C. Richards (Glenda) of Columbus; two brothers, Elliott Richards of Campobello and Pete Richards of Camden, N.J.; also surviving are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2009 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Phil Heebner and Rev. Charles McClure officiating.

Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Columbus.

Family to receive friends 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday night in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.
