TPS, TFACs Picasso at Lapin Agile show canceled

Because of a family illness, the actor who was to play Einstein in the Tryon Fine Arts Center/Tryon Painters and Sculptors play, Picasso at Lapin Agile, will not be available, and with no replacement the play will have to be canceled.

Organizers say that this is an unfortunate happening and they are disappointed but perhaps it will be shown another time.

The Tryon Painters & Sculptors Picasso Art Contest will still take place. All pieces should be brought to the lobby of the Tryon Fine Arts Center, 34 Melrose Ave., Tryon on Friday, January 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, January 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. If there are any questions, contact Alice Bentivegna at 828-894-0390.

The public is also invited to come paint or draw at TPS on Monday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. Bring a still life, photo or any other item you wish to draw or paint. There will be no cost except occasionally when there is a live model.

Sessions will begin Monday, January 11. Bring your favorite music and food if you choose. If there are any questions, call Mike McCarthy at 828-859-9963.
