Genelle Carter, 82, a native of Lynn, North Carolina and 50 year resident of Hampton, VA passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Newport News.&bsp; She raised her children and then worked for years in the Aberdeen Elementary School Cafeteria.&bsp; She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

She was preceded in rest by her husband, Allen Elwood Carter.&bsp; She leaves to cherish her memory her three sons, Al Carter and his wife, Denise, Charlie Carter and his wife, Nita and Bryan Carter and his wife, Lea; two daughters, Joyce Carter and Carol Conaway and her husband, Marty; ten grandchildren, Rosey, Bobby, Michelle, Zac, Genelle, Misty, John, Becca, Cindy and Marty, Jr.; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane and Mildred; and two brothers, Richard and Clarence. &bsp;

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 5, from 4 to 6 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.&bsp; A celebration of Genelles life will be on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 1 PM in the Funeral Home chapel.&bsp; Interment will follow in Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
