Record number turn out for Sound of Music auditions

The Tryon hills are alive with the sound of musicor at least they will be in February. Auditions this month for Rodgers and Hammersteins The Sound of Music drew a record number of adults and children hoping to be cast in the show.

According to Betty Brewer, Producer, This was the largest turn out for an audition for any Tryon Little Theater show that I know of 70 people.

Any show can be difficult to cast, but this one is especially challenging. Not only are you looking for people with acting talent and good singing voices, but you need to find a perfect family of seven children who look like brothers and sisters, and who fit the size requirements to make that perfect stair-step line-up!

Any one of the youngsters who were called back for a second audition could have played their part beautifully, says director Chris Tinkler, and I had tough choices to make.
