Polk Central Title I teachers and the Polk County Schools 21st CCLC After School Academy recently held a family reading night event at the school where students and their parents enjoyed food and reading fun.

Teachers Angela Dufford and Brooke Jackson along with assistant Deborah Edney planned and helped facilitate several reading activities and the After-School Academy helped with activity stations. Polk County High School teacher Angie McCammon helped provide high school student volunteers from among her students to assist with the stations.

We thank all of our families and our high school student volunteers for helping this night be successful, says Dufford. During the event, various reading strategy activities were introduced to parents along with take home strategies and tips to help enhance their childs reading ability.
