Proud parents; Caroling in the Park

Gay Corpening of Tryon, N.C. won the Preliminary Doubles Champion of the recent Annie Oakley Trapshoot held at Pinehurst Hotel and Country Club. Corpening hit 199 out of a possible 200 to win the event.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Marshall Conner of Columbus are parents of a son, Roger Austin, born November 14 at Rutherford Hospital.

Caroling in the Park, a Tryon tradition begun last year under the joint sponsorship of The Lanier Library and The Fine Arts Center will again take place Saturday, December 16 at 12 noon. at Greene Corner. The bells will peal and the people will join in a community sing with informal caroling led by Joseph Erwin. There will be music and comraderie and hot spiced cider to get everyone in a holiday mood. Everyone is invited!

Linda and Vance Green of Landrum, S. C. are parents of a son, Nathan Wilson, born November 28 at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, S. C. He weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces.

The new flagpole installation of FENCE (Foothills Equestrian Nature Center) will be dedicated Thursday afternoon, December 7 at 2 p.m. and all are invited to attend. The flagpole has been given by Tau Flack in memory of her husband, James M. Flack, co-founder of FENCE and a member of the board of directors since its inception.

A son was born Sunday, November 19 to Danny and Nancy Pace of Rt. 1, Saluda at Park Ridge Hospital.

Members of the Green Blades Garden Club who decorated the Tryon Fine Arts Center Christmas tree were Liz Norstrom, Margaret Mize, Liz Brooks, Anne Boas, Margaret Swann, Carolyn Pierce, Miriam Holck, Martha Frederick, Carolyn Scott, Anne Vilican, Kitty Eriksen, and Edna Leonard.
