How cruel can you get?

To the Editor:

Mr. Charles Wolff wrote in the Tryon Daily Bulletin of Nov. 25 2009 how his brother in Atlanta handled his Dachshunds barking which Mr. Wolff described as being quite a nuisance in his neighborhood.

Mr. Wolff went on to boast how his brother crated his Dachshund and announced that he was on his way to the Vet for an appointment. Mr. Wolff seems quite comfortable describing how his brother handled the Dachshunds barking: he had the dogs vocal cords severed.

Congratulations, Mr. Wolff.&bsp; What an innovative and exceptional way to silence a barking dog.

I am curious, however, why Mr. Wolffs brother would not have simply gone to Lowes or Home Depot and purchased a barking collar for $50 and placed it on his brothers dogs neck.

Was Mr. Wolff unaware that the Dachshund could have been spared having its vocal chords severed by simply placing a barking collar around the dogs neck?

How would Mr Wolffs brother feel about having his vocal chords severed to prevent him from communicating!&bsp; &bsp;

How cruel can you get.?
