Polk bus maintenance program gets top rating

The Polk County Schools bus maintenance program received a very positive review recently from the N.C. Department of Public Instruction Transportation Services. The inspection score for Polk County Schools bus maintenance program was 5.67. The lower the score is indicates fewer defects found during the inspection. Last year’s score for Polk County was 6.33. Randy Henson, the state’s Western Transportation Consultant, said the average score for the 33 counties he inspected was 26.83. Henson’s report for Polk County found the following to be satisfactory: open orders, completed orders, mechnic labor, bus inventory, new vehicle service, monthly inspections, maintenance, inventory received, physical inventory, fuel issues, service call log, driver sign in sheet, and refund reports.
