On November 13, there was a shooting at Cataloochee Valley. The poacher whose name has not been released was seen pointing a rifle out of the window of his truck, fatally shooting the famous Bull #21. In my column last month, you saw his photos. Bull #21 was born in Elk Island, Canada; he grew up in Lakes, Kentucky and was released with 24 other elks in the Cataloochee Valley back in 2001. He was found dead on Friday, November 13, along the edge of the pasture. Tips from other visitors with the identification of the truck and a quick thinker taking the tag number led to the arrest by special agents.

They went to the home of a Grantville County man who admitted to the shooting. The poacher could face a fine up to $5000 and 6 months in jail. He could lose his truck as well as the weapon he used. Other charges could also be brought like possession of a loaded firearm inside the National Park, which is illegal until February 2010.

Hunting is defined as the sport of pursuing and killing or capturing wild animals and I am pro-hunting, but this was not hunting, this was cowardice and murder!

Fishing on Lake Adger.Ken Haynes reports hunting season is now in full swing, so there is no better time to fish.&bsp; The crowds are gone and the fish are still on the bite. Several musky were caught this week one 44 and one 41 both caught on artificial bait.&bsp; White bass are still being caught around the shoals past the marker buoys, live bait and artificial are both working well. Crappie fishermen are catching fish by trolling small minnows.&bsp; Small spinner baits are also working well.&bsp; Largemouth bass are still plentiful and easy to catch on small spinners, live bait and larger spinners are also taking their toll.&bsp; It is also a good time of year to trout fish without the crowds and yes they do bite in the winter.
