To the Editor:

I read the editors take on the election results for Tryon, Saluda and the surrounding area with much interest.

I would like to add a comment about Rodney Gibson and the train wreck election results in Saluda for the Mayors race.

I was stunned when I saw the number of votes the intelligent and supposedly enlightened citizens cast for Rodney. I lived in Saluda for several years and know Rodney on a personal level. While I did not always agree with him on everything, I always knew he had the best interests of Saluda at heart and that he provided knowledge, skills and a wealth of experience that the city never would have had access to without him in office.

He always gave generously of his time and talents to make Saluda a better place. This combined with the years he was in office made him the best man for the job. If the citizenry of Saluda is blind to that fact, they will be worse off for it.

I hope Rodney left office knowing what a great job he did and the future of Saluda will speak for itself.
