Sunny View Elementary students and staff held a memorial service recently for Principal Rick Howell, who passed away after a long battle with cancer. Girl Scout troop 800, which planted a crepe myrtle in Howells honor in a front corner of the school grounds, led the ceremony. The Troop will maintain the tree as part of its service projects. Afterward, students released balloons and hung memory tags on the crepe myrtle in honor of Mr. Howell.
