Mary Hardy Reneau

Mary Hardy Reneau, 99, of Tryon passed away November 9, 2009 at White Oak Manor. She was born July 3, 1910 to John and Margaret McIlwain Hardy and was widow of Paul Reneau.

She was a member of Landrum First Baptist Church for 67 years, where she had worked as a nursery worker and was member and secretary of the Fidelis Sunday School Class for many years. She was a graduate of Lander College in Greenwood, S.C., and was a school teacher in South Carolina for many years. She was vice president of Paul Reneau, Inc. and was a former member of the Thrifty Garden Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Emily R. Smith and husband Charles of Tryon, and a granddaughter, Ann Smith Owen and husband James of Rock Hill, S.C.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Andy Allen. Burial will be in Landrum Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Landrum Building Fund, 300 E. Rutherford St., Landrum, S.C. 29356.

The family is at the home of Charles and Emily Smith, 264 Meadowlark Drive, Tryon, N.C.
