Arent we proud of the hundreds of people who worked together to make the Earl Lee Stott Benefit so successful? There was a huge crowd, great music and wonderful food, but more important, were the words of love and support for a friend and neighbor! One lifelong resident and native of Green Creek spoke for many when he said that he had never seen anything like this tremendous outpouring of love and support during his lifetime, and added I am so proud of Green Creek! I, too, was filled with pride and appreciation for the wonderful people there.

Hats off to the Green Creek Fire Department, the hundreds of cooks who helped provide an enormous amount of food, the musicians (Barry Jackson, the Southern Pride Band, Kerry and Wanda McSwain) and to all those wonderful volunteers who gave so freely of their time and money to help Earl Lee Stott and his family. Green Creek truly is the best place in the world to live!

The 11th Annual Green Creek Heritage Festival is another great event in our area and will be held tomorrow, Saturday, September 12 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Green Creek Community Center. Barry Jackson and the Southern Pride Band will perform again at 2:30 p.m. at the Heritage Festival. A number of other musicians will also perform that day, including Mary Dill, Jennifer Prince, Phil and Gaye Johnson, Jack Roper and Lulu (from the TV series, Hee Haw.

Dont miss hearing Green Creeks own Jim Hinsdale, a wonderful storyteller, entertain you with his wit and wisdom, at the festival. He will speak at the storytellers tent at 10 a.m.

Another must see is the Green Creek History Room, where many displays, books, Green Creek High School annuals, and hundreds of pictures will be on display. The Green Creek History Room is located in the classroom building near the cafeteria. The Collinsville display includes Rowena Matsons painting of Collinsville Mill, pictures, as well as information about gold mining at Collinsville, and the Double Branch Gold Mine located there. Hillcrest School pictures and information will also be displayed at the Green Creek History Room.

A very popular car & truck show will be held at the Heritage Festival, as well as games, crafts, a blacksmith demonstration, farmers market, country store, tractors, old farm equipment and much more. Make sure that you wave when you see the veterans float in the parade, which starts at 9:30 a.m. If you are a veteran and would like to ride in the parade, meet in front of the church at 9:15 a.m. Dont miss this day of family fun. Admission and parking to this festival is free. You only pay for your food and drinks, or items that you purchase.

Happy birthday to Larry Shytle, Scott Waddell, Kerry and Jeff Arrowood, Jane Horne, Rhonda Forrester, Tim Linder, John Blanton, Rita Sports, Payton Stott, Michael Duncan, and James and Peggy Stott. Among those celebrating wedding anniversaries are Edith and John Edwards, Chris and Scott Brand, and Sheila and Kelly Ford.
