A new Polk County High School tradition began this year with the first annual Polk County High School FFA and FFA Alumni cookout.
This gathering will continue to be held each year according teacher and sponsor Chauncey Barber. The meal was held the evening of Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 23, and was sponsored by Harry’s (Denton) Barbeque and Mack Henson, who cooked the food, the Polk County High School FFA and the Columbus Food Lion, which provided the food.
Current students along with their parents, former students (Polk County and Polk Central FFA members) and community members attended.
“The gathering offered the opportunity for people to fellowship as well as see the progress of the school farm and the continued growth of the Polk FFA Program,” says Barber. “We had over a 100 people attend even with the rainy weather and we hope to see all of you at the next homecoming cookout.”
